Capital Area Communications has been connecting people, organizations and communities since 1991.
Founded in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as one of the original Motorola Service Partners, CAC began with a focus on professional two-way radio communications and dependable local service. More than three decades later, we remain proudly privately held, family owned and operated.
That independence has helped shape the way we do business. We take a long-term view of our customer relationships, invest in the people and capabilities that support them, and make decisions with the customers and communities we serve in mind.
From those beginnings, CAC has grown into a comprehensive communications and technology organization serving public safety agencies, government, healthcare, education, commercial and industrial customers throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding region.
A History Built Around Mission-Critical Communications
Our history has been shaped by the systems our customers depend on when communication matters most.
For more than 35 years, CAC has played a longstanding role in Pennsylvania's public safety communications infrastructure, supporting land mobile radio networks, microwave systems, tower sites and other mission-critical communications throughout the Commonwealth.
As Pennsylvania transitioned to its statewide P25 public safety radio network, CAC worked alongside Motorola Solutions and the Commonwealth in the deployment of what would become PA-STARNet. CAC and Motorola established a Harrisburg-area staging and testing operation where equipment could be prepared, configured and tested before deployment throughout Pennsylvania.
Today, PA-STARNet provides statewide interoperable communications for Pennsylvania State Police and numerous Commonwealth, county and municipal agencies. CAC continues to provide the technical expertise, infrastructure support and field service necessary to keep critical communications systems operating throughout the region.
That experience extends from individual municipalities and county public safety systems to some of the Commonwealth's largest communications networks.

Today, our footprint extends across 28 counties, supported by a growing team of experienced technicians, engineers, project managers and support professionals.
That growth represents more than geographic expansion. It reflects decades of accumulated technical knowledge, long-term customer relationships and continued investment in the people, facilities, equipment and expertise required to support increasingly sophisticated communications and public safety technology.
Through all of that growth, one thing has remained constant: CAC is still a privately held, family-owned and operated company.
For us, that matters.
It allows us to remain close to our customers, make decisions for the long term and maintain a personal stake in the quality of the work carrying the Capital Area Communications name.
The Next Chapter
Technology has changed dramatically since CAC was founded in 1991.
Two-way radios have evolved into interconnected communications platforms. Local public safety networks have become statewide interoperable systems. Video security, access control, broadband, software and data have increasingly become parts of the same technology ecosystem.
